Solomon Islands Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela has spoken highly of the Solomon Islands Red Cross Society (SIRCS) work/effort in the country.
During a courtesy visit paid to the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet on Friday 12 January 2018 by officials from the SIRCS, the Prime Minister acknowledged the distinctive role of agencies like the Red Cross has played in the country.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the role of the SIRCS in working closely with the Government through its several Ministries to deliver some of its efforts especially during times of disasters and other important areas that needs attention such as running the blood bank service to support the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS).
Hon. Houenipwela further expressed the need for the Government to work closely with agencies such as the SIRCS and stating that there needs to be improved collaboration between the Government and SIRCS.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the country’s Red Cross Society, Thomas Bebeu was humbled by the Prime Minister for accepting their invitation to meet with him.
Speaking to the Prime Minister, Mr Bebeu said, “We are very privileged and humbled by the gesture shown in accepting our invitation to meet with you.”
Mr Bebeu also presented the organisation’s 4- years Strategic Plan to the Prime Minister after briefing him about the work of the SIRCS in the country for over 30 years.
The visiting delegation to the Prime Minister was SIRCS’ Secretary General Thomas Bebeu, his Deputy Clement Manuri and SIRCS’ Finance Admin Manager Patrick Unga.
