The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has farewelled the out-going ROC/Taiwan Ambassador to Solomon Islands Victor Te-Sun Yu.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Milner Tozaka hosted a farewell dinner, which the ambassador said was an honourable thing to him.
Mr Tozaka expressed the government’s appreciation for the leadership and wisdom possessed by H.E in guiding Taiwan’s warm relations with Solomon Islands over the years.
“It is only fitting that we gather here tonight to farewell and to thank Mr Yu before he embarks on his next assignment,” he said.
During the farewell occasion, both dignitaries share and value the essence of forging relations some 33 years ago.
The value of this relationship, Mr Tozaka added, will not go unnoticed, with the current leadership and dedication of H.E in Solomon Islands which has successfully coordinate many rural projects to the lives of rural people in this country.
In essence, apart from Taiwan’s rural aid, Solomon Islands appreciate the continuous technical assistance rendered by Taiwan in various sectors ranging from Health, Agriculture and Education.
“On education, we have seen recipients of the Taiwan ICDF Higher Education scholarship; which we are indeed confident that they will share much to the development of this country,” the Minister said.
He added that the foundation laid by Mr Yu and the work done thus far will be remembered in the years ahead.
Mr Yu said he was humble to be hosted in such manner; adding that he has learned a lot during his tenure.
He expressed appreciation for the cordial and warm relationship between ROC/Taiwan and Solomon Islands adding that he is proud to share and value the relationship during his time as Ambassador of ROC/Taiwan to Solomon Islands.
The Ambassador is due to return to Taiwan tomorrow.
He will be replaced by ambassador designated to Solomon Islands Rodger Luo, who is expected in the country on the 16th this month.
