Solomon Islands has made history by winning the U12 boys futsal Category in the FFA National Futsal Championship in Australia for the second time in a row.
The U12 boys defended their title with a 5-2 win over grand final rival, New South Wale (NSW) Lightnings at the at Sydney Olympic Park, State Sports Centre yesterday.
The NSW Lightnings got the best start with a goal to nil lead, however could not hold on the lead for long as Solomon Islands hit back with two quick goals to take the lead.
The Lightnings fought their way back and found their equalizer to make it 2-2 at half time.
The second half of the match was no different from the first with both sides searching for the lead.
Solomon Islands were more determined displaying a more strong counter attack and defensive play and their hard work paid off with another three goals to seal their 5-2 victory.
The U12 boys have made an impressive run throughout the competition and the win confirms their undefeated run from the pool matches right up to the grand finals.
Meanwhile the Solomon Islands U14 boys team were unfortunate to win the U14 category title after being defeated 8-3 to NSW Thunders.
The two teams’ performance and results has been highly commended back at home and also their fans in Australia.
The teams will arrive back home this week.
