Governor General Sir Frank Kabui during his New Year’s address to the nation announced recipients for this year’s honours and awards.

The following are the Honours and Awards duly recommended by the Honours and Awards Committee, approved by the Prime Minister and endorsed by Her Majesty the Queen:

Officer of the British Empire, OBE

Neptune Aleigana Lopu – For long and dedicated service in education as a teacher, community development and service to the Government and the Christian Fellowship Church.

Joyce Mary Hallu – For long and dedicated service to the Government and the people of Solomon Islands as a nurse.

Member of the British Empire, MBE

Morris Waria – For long and dedicated service to Government as a marine officer and in church and community development.

Hezel Pitavavini Boseto – For long and dedicated service in Government, community and the church.

Peter Toosi – For long and dedicated service in Government, church and the community.

Queen’s Police Medal, QPM

Paul Kaia Bulu – For long and dedicated service in Government, police and the community.
