Kokonut Pacific Ltd scoops PM’s award

Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands (KPSI) Limited has scooped the Prime Minister Business of the Year award during the fourth Business Excellence Award (BEA) night on Saturday at the Coral Sea Resort and Casino Hotel in Honiara.

Well-known as the Pacific’s biggest producer of Direct Micro Expelled (DME) Extra Virgin Coconut Oil managing the value chain from village-based producers to final quality control, packaging and export KPSI Limited was nominated for its standout and consistence in business.

On top of that KPSI was also awarded the ‘Exporter of the Year’ and the award of ‘Business Contribution of the Community (SME Business Category).’

Wilson Kikolo, the operations manager of Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands (KPSI) said, they were very humbled and honour to receive such awards.

“I on behalf of KPSI management and staff we feel honoured to receive the award and we dedicate it to our local coconut farmers, communities, government and local partners.

“This award means that we will improve and produce more commodities to drive the economy of the country,” he said.

He also thanked the young staff of the KPSI for their input into the company and their commitment.

KPSI was set up by Kokonut Pacific (Australia) Ltd as a private joint venture social enterprise in 2004.

The stated purpose of the company was to enable rural Solomon Islanders to earn meaningful incomes and improved livelihoods from their existing sustainable coconut resource.

This would be achieved by helping people produce virgin coconut oil at a local village level so as to maintain a viable long-term industry based on local demand and exports of final products.

The company has employed about 49 employees.

Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands (KPSI), established in 2004, is the largest exporter of Certified Organic produce in the Solomon Islands.

KPSI is the Pacific’s biggest producer of Direct Micro Expelled (DME) Extra Virgin Coconut Oil managing the value chain from village-based producers to final quality control, packaging and export.
