THE University of the South Pacific Student Association of Solomon Islands (USPSA SI) has voted in its new executive, last week.
This came after the Campus (USP SI) held its USPSA SI 2016 election on Thursday 9.
The election is to ensure the USP SI student body elected in its new decision-making body to replace the outgoing executive whose tenure in office expired last month.
“Voter’s (students) turnout on that day (Thursday 9) was good except for few students did not turn up to cast their ballots due to exams,” returning officer Wilfred Luiramo said.
Meanwhile, Luiramo thanked the students for their cooperation on the Election Day and for exercising their democratic right in electing their new leaders.
The outcome of the polling day has recognized the following candidates came out successful and declared winners, on Friday 10 after a marathon ballot count.
Prettia Boso won the President post, Willie Ausuta-Vice President, Joseph Funifaka-Treasurer, Piasi Alekolo-Students Welfare, Carrington Pelobule -Social and Cultural Chair, Connie Amasia -Undergraduate Rep, Leonard Tuasulia -Sports Chair, Benjiz Musuota -Religious Chair and Lorah George secured the Women’s rep post.
No nomination has been submitted for Post Graduate representative.
The USP SI student body also thanked the outgoing executive for their effort and contribution towards USPSA SI while at the same time congratulates the incoming new executive and wishes them well in discharging their duties towards the student body.
A total of 404 ballots have been casted on the poling day.
USP Solomon Islands Campus in Honiara will finish off its two weeks of final examinations for the first semester of 2016 this Friday.
