A MAJOR milestone in the countdown to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 has been made today (Thursday).
The official draw revealed the fate of the 24 national teams that will battle in the World’s premier competition.
Held in Medellin, one of the tournament’s three host cities, the event saw Solomon Islands (Kurukuru) drawn in ‘Group E’ with, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan and Argentina.
Hosts Colombia is in ‘Group A’ with Portugal, Uzbekistan and Panama, where they will play all their games in Cali and will round off the opening day of the competition, Saturday 10 September, with a tough outing against Portugal.
Five-time winners Brazil was drawn in ‘Group D’ with Australia, Ukraine and Mozambique.
Other big names like Spain and Italy were in Groups F and C respectively.
