THE Channels of Hope for Gender, Church and Partnership Conference is now set to convene at the Mendana Hotel on Monday 25th April.
The Conference, which will run from 25th to 27th April, aims to strengthen partnership between churches, partners and stakeholders in an effort to curb family violence.
The Conference was initially set to open on Wednesday 20th however; the delayed arrival of Maclean Dlodlo also delayed the opening. Maclean, who is due to arrive in the Country tomorrow, will be the Conference’s lead facilitator.
Around 50 people from Honiara and the provinces representing churches, government ministries, non-government organisations, communities and stakeholders will attend the three-day Conference.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs, Ethel Sigimanu, will deliver the keynote remarks at the opening of the event.
The theme of the Conference “For such a time as this: Speaking up for families threatened by violence” reinforces the need for everyone to speak up and act against family violence.
The Conference is organised by World Vision Solomon Islands under its Honiara gender project.
