$10,000 reward for futsal players

THE Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) will reward the Kurukuru team who won the Oceania Futsal Championship with a cash prize of $10,000 for each players.

This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare is full of praise for the National Futsal Squad for successfully defending the Oceania Futsal Championship in Fiji last week for the fifth time in a row.

And in a show of appreciation to the Futsal Team for bring pride to the nation, the Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga has announced that the Democratic Coalition of Change Government will reward the team with a cash payment of SB$10,000 for each of the players.

The two leaders hosted a brief lunch for the team on arrival at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday.

“You make us proud and I would like to congratulate you for your efforts in defending the title on behalf of our country,” Mr Sogavare said.

He said the DCC Government will continue to support the team in their preparations to represent Oceania at this year’s FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.

The National Futsal Team, commonly known as the Kurukuru has won all its matches during last week’s tournament in Suva, Fiji.

This is the third time the Kurukuru’s will represent Oceania at the Futsal World cup.

Meanwhile, Kurukuru captain, Elliot Ragomo has thanked the Government for its ongoing support towards the team prior to and during the tournament.

He said the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister Maelanga at the Futsal Championship is a boost for the team’s morale during the tournament last week.
