THAILAND’S new Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Chirachai Puncrasin has presented his letter of credence to the Acting Governor General, Mr. Francis Mwanesalua at Government house Thursday last week.
Ambassador Puncrasin replaces outgoing Thai Ambassador, His Excellency Bandhit Sotipalalit.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Puncrasin said he is determined to promote and strengthen the cooperation and cordial relations between Thailand and Solomon Islands.
The relationship between the two countries’ was established on 2nd May, 1986 based on areas of common development agenda such as the tourism, agriculture and fisheries sectors.
Mr Mwanesalua said Solomon Islands will continue to encourage more pragmatic approaches for greater cooperation with the Kingdom of Thailand on other potential areas aiming to foster sustainable cooperation.
He also informed the Ambassador that his task in Solomon Islands may be challenging at times but he is assured of the support from the government and people of Solomon Islands during his tenure in office.
Present at the ceremony were Madam Mwanesalua, the supervising Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Peter Shanel, Supervising Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Mr. William Soaki and senior government officials.
